Are You Tight?.....

My husband and I are huge fans of old black and white movies, especially what is referred to as “film noir”.  While we think that words and their meanings don’t evolve that much throughout the years, we have found that indeed they do.  It took us a while to catch on to what the actors were referring to when using certain words….for instance the word “tight”. Back in the 30s and 40s, if you were “tight”, it did not mean you were physically fit and in good shape.  Nor did it mean that you and so and so were really close friends.  It meant you were drunk.  In the Merriam Webster Dictionary, one has to scroll all the way down to definition #6 to find that meaning.  While it states “somewhat drunk”, we feel that it means toasted or wasted.  Why?  Because in the “film noir” style movies, no one is ever somewhat drunk.  Have you watched those movies?  Those people started drinking and smoking the minute their feet hit the floor at 2:00 in the afternoon.   They were not early risers becau

Age Is Just a Number....

My husband and I are the same age.  Yet I am 9 1/2 years older. He is 43 and I am 52.  "How can this be", you might ask. 4 + 3 = 7 5 + 2 = 7 I like my math skills! I'm just sayin',

Mystery Science Theater 3000.....

I love Mystery Science Theater 3000.  I want you to love it also.  I've provided a video so that you can watch a snippet of this cult classic.  It's okay if you don't like it, just give it a try...you know, like that first bite of Brussels sprouts!  As an added bonus, I've provided one of Ina Garten's 5-Star recipes for Roasted Brussels Sprouts. And now the bonus: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/roasted-brussels-sprouts-recipe2.html Give 'em both a try! I'm just sayin',

Personal Jesus....

I've been away from this blog for 2 years.  Since there are 7 billion other blogs out there, I doubt anyone noticed!  :-) It's all good - I'm not offended! It appears the blogger log-in page is much more user friendly and not as complicated to navigate.  Just when I had the other system figured out.  So if you don't see alot of changes in background, font, links, etc., it is because I haven't figured out where those things are hidden in the new system.  Anyway..... This song has been stuck in my head for days!  I hate when this happens.  The version that keeps running through my head is by Depeche Mode.  When looking up the song to download to my phone (working on the assumption that if I hear it repeatedly it will leave in frustration), I found that there are quite a few versions available.  One of those versions was recorded by Johnny Cash and is my husband’s favorite.  Other artists covering this song include Marilyn Manson and someone by the name of

We Interrupt This Program....

This headline is exactly what I'm talking about:  http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/lindsay-lohan-found-unconscious-california-hotel-taken-hospital-185326092.html .  ABS News reported Lindsay Lohan was found unconscious in a hotel room.  TMZ "one-upped" them to say she is fine (cuz they know more than ABC News, obviously).  Her attorney says she's fine.  All of this found at the top of my Yahoo page as "Breaking News".  I say WHO CARES??!!!  Why does the irresponsible life of a former child star make "Breaking News"??!!!  Breaking News is Obama has been kicked out of the White House. YAY!   Breaking News is the price has dropped on my favorite lotion at Wal-Mart.  Sheesh!!  I'm going to the gym.... I'm just sayin',

News.....

As I was perusing the news headlines this morning, I came across this one "Miley Cyrus Goes Braless in Miami - Pic".  WHAT???!!!  This is newsworthy material!!  I go braless every day and there is never a reporter around to write that story, much less take a photo.  Now I have no idea what the story says because I'm not stupid enough to click on the link.  But I guarantee at least 2.5 million people will click on that link to see a photo and read some dumb story about a less than mediocre entertainer. It saddens me that our society has come to think of items like this as newsworthy.  I wonder how many people read the story about the return of the black plague??!! I'm just sayin',
