Crazy Heart

Color me impressed.  Jeff Bridges can sing.  Colin Farrell can sing.  Robert Duvall can sing….not well, but he does put forth some effort.  I’ve seen Jeff Bridges in movies, as well as Robert Duvall, but I think this is the first movie I’ve ever watched starring Colin Farrell.  Where have I been?
We recently watched the movie “Crazy Heart”.  It wasn’t great, but it was good.  I’m not big on watching movies that have come out, say, in the last 10 years.  The good ones are so few and far between that I refuse to pay what a theatre charges for me to come in, sit down, freeze and be disappointed. (Note:  I will pay to go see The Rocky Horror Picture Show – so don’t listen to me about quality of movies).  I don’t have enough free time and have too many other things to do.  So, I wait for a movie to come out on DVD and watch it then, IF I’m interested.
We ended up purchasing “Crazy Heart” because we could buy it as cheaply as we could rent it.  Jeff Bridges stars as an alcoholic, washed-up, has been country singer.  This character didn’t strike me as being much different from his role in “The Big Lebowski”.  I told my husband that Jeff Bridges seems way too comfortable in his roles as unkempt, alcoholic, scraggly men.  It suits him.  But I digress.  While the movie was good, the music was excellent.  I’m not a big fan of Country music, but I love this soundtrack!  Here’s a link to one of my favorite songs from the movie, as well as some info on how they filmed this particular scene!

If you want a version of the song without cameras and an audience, click here:
The soundtrack has Jeff Bridges singing this song alone (as he does in the movie), and with Colin Farrell.
Come on, play it again and sing along….you know you want to!
I was going where I shouldn’t go
Seein’ who I shouldn’t see
Doin’ what I shouldn’t do
Bein’ who I shouldn’t be

We’ve all been there, right??!!
I’m just sayin’, it’s funny how fallin’ feels like flyin’, for a little while,
PS...this is NOT a family friendly movie...the language made me flinch at times.
