Summer's Over Already

I am a fall and winter person.  I love the crisp dry air that comes with autumn.  The mornings are chilled and the smells are indescribable.  Summer is over already and I don't understand why it won't leave!  I'm fully prepared to tell the high temps to take a hike!  So, in an effort to help summer move along, I'm posting some pics from my end of summer photo shoots.  Maybe summer will get the message now and say "so long and farewell". Trash the Dress with Matt and Jenna Trashin' the Dress.... I had the pleasure of shooting Matt and Jenna's engagement portraits and wedding.  It was only befitting that I was able to shoot her "trash the dress" event.  We traveled to Oak Mountain State Park to romp in the water and melt in the sun!  A fun time was had by all and Matt and Jenna found creative ways to stay cool! K ickin' it with Karly Karly is the most precious granddaughter of a very dear customer.  She is adorable. D

The State Fair....Really?

I have fond memories of the Alabama State Fair.  I used to love to go as a kid.  However, I haven't been in many years.  My children didn't have the opportunity to experience going to the the fair because it became too dangerous to take them. Then, Birmingham just stopped having it altogether.  A few years ago, the Verizon Center (formerly known as Oak Mountain Amphitheater) decided to take on the task as host.  We decided to take the boys this weekend, Sunday in fact.  I was very disappointed to say the least.  It was very small, more like a TG&Y parking lot carnival than a State Fair. Where were the booths and tents that housed the side shows, you know like the bearded lady, the fat woman and the turtle boy?  Where was the man who swallowed swords and fire?  Where were the prized cows, hogs, pigs, quilts and pies?  Where was the World Famous BBQ?  Where was the man on stilts walking through the crowd?  Where were the popular DJs handing out bumper stickers?  And the foo

It's Game Day

Today is Saturday, September 4, 2010.  College football season officially kicks off today.  While there may have been other games this week (I really have no idea), today is Alabama's first game, thus, the official kickoff of college football.  Did you like that play on words....kickoff...get it??!!! Will post other things pertaining to the first few days of my leave of absence and how that's been going, as well as how you can win FREE photo sessions this fall and winter, tomorrow.  Today, it's all about the game, and the weather, and how gorgeous it is outdoors, and how cool it was last night, and how fall is all about college football! Remember, Lipstick Legends portraits are also available.  My profile photo is a sample of how cool those portraits really look!! I'm just sayin', Roll Tide Roll!
